Or any other extended family that feels like your immediate family, for that matter. The first signs of a new season. After a bitterly cold winter, spring sounds like the best thing in the world.

Bonus points if you give it to someone who needs it more than you do. Catching an item someone throws at you. Admit it, you feel a little bit like a superhero when your reflexes are on point.
Snow days. You can either look at it as totally annoying or as an excuse to act like a kid again. The moment your cat does something silly. Like freaking out over a cucumber , for example.
A good cry. Research shows letting out your emotions can make you feel better than before you even got upset in the first place. Your favorite scent. Plus, certain aromas even benefit your well-being. Is there anything more refreshing? Not to mention it has numerous health perks. A perfectly ripe avocado. Here are a few ways you can use it.
Opening a present. The fact that someone took the time to put thought into giving you something is a gift in itself. Lunch time. Taking a break from your desk will help improve your productivity. Consider it your midday contribution to your job. Fun workout classes. The more engaged you are, the better the workout. A long, hot shower or bath. Ahhh, feel the relaxation and reap the benefits.
Old school songs. Permission to jam out to Boyz II Men? A really captivating book. Random run-ins with your friends on the street. Talk about a pleasant surprise! Winning a game. You are. Your favorite school teacher.
You know the one: The teacher who inspired you to pursue your career or the one who helped you raise your SAT score. Teachers like this guy. Hitting every green light on your commute.
Think Outside the Box. If you want to make the most out of opportunities to flex your gratitude muscles, you must creatively look for new situations and circumstances in which to feel grateful. One of the best ways to practice gratitude is by journaling. At its simplest form this gratitude journaling is taking time out, every day to think about and write down things that you are grateful for.
It can be as simple as writing three things you are grateful for on post-it notes every single day. Or a bit more formal and guided, like using our 90 day gratitude journal. Simply taking time everyday to think about and write out the things you are grateful for is one of the biggest ways to improve your happiness and overall quality of life.
So I highly encourage you to make a habit out of making a habit out of daily gratitude journaling. Spending daily time thinking about gratitude will improve your life in a way few other things can. So hopefully you can use this thankfulness list as a idea generator for creating your own daily ideas of things you are grateful for. Write them down every day and make it a habit. What are the differences between being thankful and being grateful? Thankfulness is in the moment. Gratitude is lasting. When someone opens the door for you when you hands are full, you are thankful. You appreciate the action, but it is quickly forgotten. On the other hand, when you are grateful it is a feeling that should last.
